Cine Club- Le Fate Ignoranti

This promises to be an engaging and immersive experience, where our wonderful teacher, Barbara, will guide a thought-provoking discussion on Le fate Ignoranti, a captivating film directed by FERZAN OZPETEK. Her insights will help you delve deeper into the film’s rich themes and characters.

Antonia’s life is shattered when her husband, Massimo, dies in a car accident. While going through his belongings, she discovers that he had been living a secret life. Antonia eventually meets Michele, Massimo’s lover, along with his diverse and unconventional group of open-minded friends who have formed a surrogate family. Initially shocked and devastated by the revelation, Antonia is gradually drawn to this close-knit community. As she spends more time with Michele and his friends, she begins to see the world from a new perspective, challenging her preconceived ideas about love, fidelity, and identity.
The film beautifully portrays a journey from pain and betrayal to understanding and acceptance, highlighting the fluid nature of love and the significance of chosen families.

Cine Club- Il Grande Sogno

Explore the rich world of Italian cinema as we screen and discuss some of the most iconic and thought-provoking films from Italy.

Our teacher, Barbara, will lead a conversation on the story of “IL GRANDE SOGNO”, (2009) directed by Michele Placido, offering participants a deeper understanding of the film.

Whether you’re a seasoned cinephile or simply looking to enjoy a fantastic movie night, our Cine Club promises an engaging and immersive experience. Don’t miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in the magic of Italian cinema and connect with fellow students and film enthusiasts.

“Il grande sogno,” is a compelling film that captures the turbulent spirit of Italy in the late 1960s. Set against the backdrop of political upheaval and social change, the film tells the story of Nicola, a young man from the South of Italy, who moves to Rome with dreams of attending the Academy of Dramatic Arts. To support himself, Nicola joins the police force and is assigned to work undercover, infiltrating a university. His encounters with Laura, a Catholic girl from the upper middle class who dreams of a better world, and Libero, a working student who dreams of revolution, will influence and forever change the course of his life.

The film will be screened in Italian with English subtitles. Suitable for all levels of language proficiency.

After the international success of Il Treno dei Bambini and Oliva Denaro, with Grande Meraviglia, Viola Ardone completes an ideal twentieth-century trilogy. In this unusual coming-of-age novel, a little girl’s bond with the man who decides to free her reveals the very human need to be recognized by others, to feel like they exist.

Under the guidance of our teacher Barbara, students will explore the author’s biography and historical context, followed by an engaging discussion about the book.
