Program Structure
You will work on chapters 1, 2 and 3 of Nuovo Espresso 5 and will read an Italian novel chosen by your teacher, discussing its content and improving your reading skills.
You will work on chapters 4, 5 and 6 of Nuovo Espresso 5 and will read an Italian novel chosen by your teacher, discussing its content and improving your reading skills.
You will work on chapters 7, 8 and 9 of Nuovo Espresso 5 and will read an Italian novel chosen by your teacher, discussing its content and improving your reading skills.
You will work on chapter 10 of Nuovo Espresso 5 and will review the entire book as a strengthening exercise. You will also read an Italian novel chosen by your teacher, discussing its content and improving your reading skills.
You will review your grammar knowledges and will read an Italian novel chosen by your teacher, discussing its content and improving your reading skills.
A series of 15 classes. 2 hours long, focused on studying, reading and discussing one of the main Italian classic literature novels.
In the Summer and Fall Term, the group will focus on “La storia“, by Elsa Morante.
With our instructor, Mattia Milone, we will read through this Classic of Italian Literature and discuss this novel published in 1974 and set in Rome during and after the last war (1941-47). It represents the pinnacle of Elsa Morante’s life experience.
2 hours of reading, speaking and conversation at an advanced level, to enjoy speaking Italian as if you were having a cup of coffee with your Italian friends.
During this class, Mattia will help his students to achieve the goal of reading, speaking and having a conversation about a famous Italian book.
In the Summer Term we will have 2 separate Sessions, each one reading a different book.
In the Session 2 there will be 4 classes (9/9-9/16-9/23-9/30), reading the book “Lacci”, by Domenico Starnone.
You will read along with your classmates high Italian literature novels, written by renowned Italian novelists, discussing their main points exclusively in Italian, under the guidance of your expert teacher Martina.
In this session, students will read the novel “Vita“, by Melania G. Mazzucco, a compelling novel that takes us through the journey of Italian immigrants in America at the beginning of the 20th century.
This beautifully crafted story intertwines history and fiction, delving into themes of love, struggle, and identity.
Through your class discussions, you will explore the historical and cultural impact of this powerful narrative, using it as a gateway to better comprehend the Italian immigrant experience. It’s a unique opportunity to engage with contemporary Italian literature and deepen your connection to our cultural heritage.
Gianna will guide you in a journey of discovery of Italy, focusing each Term on a different Region.
The reading and short tube videos will inspire you to discuss and learn about this region and explore current Italian issues as well.
You will also revise some grammar topics, starting from the conversation that the book and videos will inspire.
A 10$ nonrefundable registration fee will be automatically added at checkout.
