Caffè Corretto is a special class we’ve created with Mattia, designed to make learning Italian as effortless and enjoyable as sipping a good cup of coffee.
In this class, Mattia will guide students in reading, speaking, and engaging in meaningful discussions about a renowned Italian book, helping them enhance their language skills naturally and effectively.
Join us for an immersive Italian learning experience, where literature and conversation blend seamlessly—just like a perfectly made caffè corretto.
In the Winter Term – Session 2, students will read “L’Anniversario” by Andrea Bajani, a powerful and intimate novel that explores memory, family bonds, and the quiet fractures that shape personal identity.
Through a refined and accessible prose style, Bajani invites readers into a deeply emotional narrative that unfolds between past and present, revealing how unresolved relationships can echo across a lifetime. The novel’s introspective tone makes it ideal for language learners who want to engage with contemporary Italian literature while reflecting on universal human experiences.
Discover Italian language and culture through 12 iconic films, from Ladri di biciclette to La grande bellezza.
Each week, students will independently watch one film and then meet for an engaging discussion focused on language, cultural themes, and cinematic expression. Guided by Barbara, you’ll analyze dialogue, context, and key scenes while deepening your understanding of Italian society, humor, and history — learning Italian through the stories that have shaped it.
Students will learn and practice Italian through cinema, enhancing vocabulary, comprehension, and cultural fluency in a dynamic and enjoyable setting.
The course is structured in two modules:
Module 1: L’Italia del dopoguerra al boom economico (1948–1963)
Ladri di biciclette, La grande guerra, La dolce vita, Divorzio all’italiana, Il sorpasso, Il gattopardo
Module 2: Dall’impegno civile alla modernità (1972–2013)
Mimì metallurgico ferito nell’onore, Una giornata particolare, Mediterraneo, I cento passi, Manuale d’amore, La grande bellezza
Each module can be taken separately, or students can enroll in the full 12-week course.
Each class begins with a discussion of the film watched independently the previous week and concludes with an introduction to the next one — creating a cohesive, immersive learning experience from start to finish.
Join us for an exclusive 7-week advanced reading group starting February 12th, where we will discover the novel “Vite nell’oro e nel blu” by Andrea Pomella.
This evocative work blends memoir, literary investigation, and cultural history, weaving together the lives of artists, writers, and thinkers who shaped Italy’s intellectual landscape. Through a lyrical yet precise narrative, Pomella reflects on ambition, creativity, and the fragile balance between artistic brilliance and personal vulnerability, offering readers a rich and layered portrait of a cultural era.
Guided by our experienced instructor, Martina, you’ll engage in in-depth discussions that go beyond the text, exploring themes of identity, success, and the cost of artistic pursuit. Together, we will analyze language, style, and historical references, expand advanced vocabulary in context, and use the novel as a springboard for thoughtful conversation in Italian.
This group is perfect for advanced learners eager to challenge their Italian through rich literary analysis and meaningful conversation, while exploring themes of power, morality, family ties, and the societal undercurrents of contemporary Italy.
A series of 10 classes, 2 hours each, dedicated to studying, reading, and discussing one of the most significant works of Italian literature.
In the Winter Term, the group will focus on the book “Francesca e Nunziata” by Maria Orsini Natale.
Set in the early 20th century along the sun-drenched coast of southern Italy, this novel tells the story of a Neapolitan family bound by love, ambition, and sacrifice. Through the lives of Francesca and Nunziata, Orsini Natale paints a vivid portrait of Italy in transformation — a country balancing between tradition and modernity, between the values of the past and the challenges of a new industrial age.
A masterpiece of contemporary Italian literature, Francesca e Nunziata is not only a love story but also a reflection on social class, gender, and the resilience of human bonds. Reading this novel offers students a chance to deepen their understanding of Italian culture and language through expressive, emotionally rich prose that brings the complexities of family, history, and identity to life.
Under Mattia’s guidance, you will discover the subtle layers of Orsini Natale’s storytelling — exploring the language, symbolism, and historical context that shape the novel’s emotional depth. Each class will blend literary analysis with lively discussion, helping you connect personally with the characters while enriching your vocabulary and cultural understanding.
Gianna will guide you on a journey of discovery through Italy, with each Term focusing on a distinct region.
In the Winter Term, you will explore the Veneto region through the novel “Di morte e d’amore” by Stefania Crepaldi, a compelling story that blends mystery, passion, and local color. Set against the evocative landscapes of the Venetian countryside, the book invites readers to uncover hidden truths and deep emotions intertwined with regional traditions and culture.
Through the pages of this carefully selected book, along with short videos and class discussions, you’ll explore Italy’s regional culture, traditions, and contemporary issues, all while improving your Italian language skills. The course encourages conversation and analysis, offering a dynamic and immersive learning experience.
In addition to reading and discussion, you’ll also review key grammar topics, using the book and videos as a springboard for natural, engaging conversation.
Join us for this unique exploration of Italy—one region, one story at a time!
